BiographyRichard Friese was a student and subsequently a professor at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, where he became acquainted with Carl Rungius and Wilhelm Kuhnert. Friese, Rungius, and Kuhnert were instrumental in expanding and refining the genre that would become wildlife art. Friese is considered to be one of the greatest painters of European and Arctic big game.
