DescriptionCast in 1955, modeled in 1881. Sculpture of a lion. The original plaster model was made in 1881, at the time of the death of Mrs. Edmond Turquet, the wife of the Undersecretary of State of Fine Arts, who loved Rodin, and made him having the order of the Gates of Hell (?). The Lion and the device "Garde Bien" written on a banderole formed the family coat of arms of Octavie de montgomery, the woman who passed away. An hommage for the family from Helene Marraud at the Musee Rodin in Paris. This is one of an unnumbered edition of 7 to 12 casts, all posthumous made by Georges Rudier for Musee Rodin.
